Namibia's central area's include the regions of Hardap, Erongo, Khomas, and parts of Omaheke as well as its capital Windhoek. The area varies between Bushveld and desert along its west coast. Included in the area is the Namib-Naukluft National Park which is the largest game park in Africa and also contains the worlds oldest desert. The area around Windhoek is typical Bushveld country, while Windhoek itself contains a number of interesting historical sites.

Spend a few days in Windhoek if you are in the area. It still has a certain atmosphere stemming from German colonial era. This can be seen in the architecture of the "Alte Feste" which used to be a German fort, the "Tintenpalast", which today houses the Namibian legislature, or the "Christus Kirche". Many of the old houses in Windhoek also have a distinctly German colonial style. For a taste of African bush try the Daan Viljoen Game Reserve just west of Windhoek.
