Namibia's south is generally a lot more arid than its center and north.
Bordering the Orange river in the south, the Atlantic Ocean in the west, and the Kalahari
Desert in the east, it's a fascinating region to visit. The western coastline both north
and south of Luderitz is total desert until around Keetmanshoop one comes across a
semi-arid landscape that changes into the Kalahari Desert the further east one gets.
Temperatures vary from over 40 Celsius to below freezing.

The area around Keetmanshoop contains a number of interesting attractions
such as the Kokerboom / Quivertree forest, and the giants playground where rocks are
stacked like building blocks. The western side contains the picturesque town of Luderitz
and the old diamond mining village of Kolmanskop. A must see when in the area! Further
south one finds the Fish River Canyon, which is the worlds second largest canyon after
the Grand Canyon in the USA.
