Situated in Bloemfontein's suburb of Tempe, the SA Armour Museum dates back to 1996. The indoor museum goes back to about 1904. The museum contains a large variety of armored vehicles, that include both tracked and wheeled types. These include a Soviet era T62 tank, a Mk 5 Centurion Main Battle tank, a Polish T72 MI Main Battle tank, a South African Class 3 New Generation Armoured Car prototype, and many more interesting vehicles. Most of these vehicles line the streets of the Tempe School of Armour.

Our visit to the SA Armour Museum took place on a Easter weekend and while the outdoor museum was open, the indoor one was not. Nevertheless there was plenty to see walking down the various streets of the Tempe School of Armour and studying the information displayed next to each armored vehicle. From our point of view the museum is well worth a visit if you are visiting Bloemfontein.
