Situated about 40km South West of the Karoo town of Oudtshoorn, the Calitzdorp Spa is a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty that the area has to offer. The spa resort offers both chalets and camping facilities. There are hot and cold outdoor pools and a Roman bath indoors. A small shop exists for basic necessities. In addition there are squash and tennis courts as well as some hiking trails. There are extensive lawns around the pools for sunbathing and for the kids to play around on.

Our stay at the Calitzdorp Spa involved camping which we very much enjoyed. We used the resort as a base for excursions to the Gamka Mountain Nature Reserve and the ostrich farms around Oudtshoorn. Some of the outdoor pools were extremely hot, so we stuck to the Roman Bath rather. The ablutions were well maintained and clean and there are braai / barbecue facilities at the camping sites. Power points are also available. If you do plan to visit the Oudtshoorn area sometime, we can definitely recommend the Calitzdorp Spa.
