Nieu Bethesda lies between Graaff-Reinet and Middelburg off the N9. The road to Nieu Bethesda is un-tarred and in some places very corrugated, but the scenery is stunning and worth the travel. Nieu Bethesda lies in a fertile valley with a network of furrows. A lot of the old houses have been restored and add to the charm of this small village. It is now home to many artists. The most famous landmark and attraction however is the Owl House. This was the home of Helen Martins who decorated the walls of her home with crushed glass and the yard with sculptures.

	This sleepy little village lies neatly tucked away in the Sneeuberg mountains. Here we still found the streets untarred with no streetlights. For accomodation, B&B and self catering accomodation is available. You might want to buy your groceries and fill up petrol beforehand (from the N9 to Nieu Bethesda it is about 25km), although the Prima Cash Stores are stocking basic groceries and even petrol (according to www.nieubethesda.info). We can't confirm this as we haven't been to the store. The size of Nieu Bethesda allows for easy walking to all the sights. Its definitely worth a visit!
