The SA National Museum of Military History is located in the suburb of Saxonwold next to the Johannesburg Zoo.
The museum was officially opened by the then Prime Minister of South Africa, Field Marshal J C Smuts on 29 August 1947.
Since then it has been expanded to generally include history of military conflict.
Now it also hosts conferences and other functions.
A huge collection of items in numerous categories is being displayed of which some are very rare.
