The Kranskloof hiking trail is situated in the Carolina area.
The first stretch from the Inkungu camp is over grassland, with small patches of Wattles and Blue gum in-between.
The trail contours along a valley before descending down into a gorge with a small stream in indigenous forest.
Once inside the valley the trail follows the stream that still had water in it despite the drought (summer 2007).
At the end of the valley one climbs a cliff and then it is less than 1km to the Kranskloof camp.
The Kranskloof camp has a very nice setup as it is secluded amongst a patch of trees.
The start from Kranskloof camp is a short climb up a cliff, which follows a cliff face.
Here one has to be careful not to take the wrong turn-off as the markers for a day trail option from/to
Kranskloof camp and the trail to Inkungu camp can confuse you. Otherwise the trail is well marked.
From here it continues along a cliff face before crossing a stream at a waterfall.
A long stretch of grassland follows before one reaches the Inkungu camp again.

The Kranskloof hiking trail has very good facilities at both the Inkungu and the Kranskloof camps.
This includes hot showers (provided by a so-called donkey), gas cookers and electricity at the Inkungu camp.
The facilities are clean and working. Both camps are situated in quiet tranquil surroundings.
